OCSEAN 2024 Summer School Tartu Conference on LINGUISTICS & HERITAGE is approaching 15th - 16th August, 2024





OCSEAN is very glad to once again organize a conference to have an update on running projects, invite guests.

Conference is mainly focused on the Summer School participants' presentations on their ongoing projects, some started during the Summer School in Tartu.

OCSEAN Steering Committee members Professor Marian Klamer (University of Leiden), Assistant Porfessor Hugo Reyes-Centeno (University of Tübingen and University of Kentucky), Assistant Professor Daniel Lawson (University of Bristol) and Dr Max Larena (Uppsala University) will give a joint Keynote talk on Ways to Synthesize Disciplines to Reconstruct Human Past. Monika Karmin, the scientific coordinator of OCSEAN and the main organizer of the Summer School in Tartu gives a brief introduction to the project.


Follow two days of tight program filled with talks and some discussion groups in between.


Main topics of the conference are Linguistics and Heritage but in the program there are also presentations on Archaeology and Genetics and Physical Anthropology.


Our Guest Speaker Michael Dannemann, Associate Professor of Evolutionary and Population Genomics from Intitute of Genomics University of Tartu, is giving a talk on the Archaic hominide genetic legacy in Papua New Guinea on the second day.
